B.Sc. Home Science (Fashion and Apparel Design)
Undergraduate Programme
The B.Sc. Home Science (Fashion & Apparel Design) programme is a specialized undergraduate course designed to blend creativity with scientific and technical knowledge of fashion and apparel. The programme focuses on developing students’ design sensibility, textile understanding, and garment construction skills while grounding them in the principles of Home Science and consumer studies.
Students receive comprehensive training in fashion illustration, design development, textile science, surface ornamentation, and apparel production techniques. The curriculum also integrates modern tools such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD) along with fashion merchandising and marketing concepts, ensuring students understand both the creative and commercial aspects of the fashion industry.
Through practical assignments, laboratory work, industry projects, internships, and fashion show presentations, students gain hands-on experience and professional exposure. Under the guidance of experienced faculty and industry experts, graduates develop strong portfolios and emerge as industry-ready professionals, well-prepared for careers in fashion design, apparel production, retail, merchandising, and entrepreneurship.

Educational Qualification
- 10+2 (HSC) pass in any stream — Arts / Commerce / Science / Home Science / MCVC
- Candidates from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are also eligible
- Science/Minimum Competency Vocational Course (MCVC) including National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
- Minimum Eligibility: 45% aggregate marks
